About Me
Artist working in various media: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture (wood, metal, clay, found materials); photography, digital imagery. Check out my work at www.samanthadmack.com or on Instagram at @samanthadmack! My work often deals with notions of memory, nostalgia, familial relationships, nature, abstraction...and, of, course, travel! I'm also very passionate about reading and writing and love to write poetry.
Student with graduation close upon me...my plans for the future are to run my own gallery and studio space, where I can share my work and the work of other artists!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I caught the traveling bug after spending a semester studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. During that time, I lived with a host family, took classes in Spanish, made wonderful friends, and traveled to several countries around Europe. Living in a homestay in Barcelona greatly sparked my love of sharing cultural experiences with others; I'm very glad I chose this option over living in an ordinary dormitory or apartment, because sharing a living space with someone and talking about life is one of the most genuine ways to experience culture. People are part of culture, so getting to know them should always be part of the equation when one travels to a new place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled on my own in London! During my semester abroad, I took a brief trip to London and discovered magical places from a tavern once frequented by Charles Dickens to the natural beauty of Hyde Park. I crossed Abbey Road, attended a Good Friday service in Westminster Abbey, and soaked in the art of the Tate Britain and other museums. I feel that experience of discovering a city is also a way to discover oneself; as I explored London on my own, I learned more about who I was as a traveler and as a citizen of the world. I also met people and made new connections- important wherever one goes:)
Teach, Learn, Share
As an artist, I'm always willing to share the practice and appreciation of creativity with others. I love having long talks about art and admiring artworks from all over the world.
After having spent some time in Spain, I can also share my Spanish skills. While it's still a second language for me and I'm still most comfortable in English, I can usually communicate easily with Spanish-speakers and help teach Spanish to others.
As a citizen of the United States, I can also share details about my life in Pennsylvania and my travels to other states like New York, Maryland, and Florida.
