About Me

*I only host women, I'm sorry!*

Hi, I'm Samantha. I am 24 years old. I recently moved from Indiana to California (drove there!) and have been living life to the fullest since then. I am a recovering perfectionist, but this year has been about me throwing myself in the deep end and learning how to swim along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love how couchsurfing helps people budget travel. Travel doesn't have to be elitist/expensive. I also appreciate getting a local's expensive so I'm not just stuck doing tourist-y things. I also love being around like-minded people. I didn't grow up around people who traveled much (or who left the midwest much), but couchsurfing has been one of the fastest ways I've been able to meet like-minded people.

From snorkeling in Hawaii to ice climbing in Iceland to longboarding in Los Angeles, I've challenged perceptions of myself and have realized I'm capable of so much more than I thought I was.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love EDM and soft rock/alternative like Coldplay and OneRepublic. I've definitely been known to have travel plans revolve around concerts. My first time in Europe and my first solo international trip was to Sweden, for a concert. (Sandro Cavazza, who sang with Avicii and Kygo)

I mainly read books about WWII, business, and self-help. (I love books written by Ted Talk authors)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving from Indiana to Los Angeles was tough but it pushed me so much outside of my comfort zone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love a good conversation! I've met up/hosted through Facebook groups and love learning about different cultural traditions. Through travel especially, I'm able to expand my frame of reference and learn more about the world around me.

Also happy to buy first round of drinks :)
