About Me

Hi! My name is Sam and I'm from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I’m a fun, outgoing and quirky person who loves finding the beauty in every country and its people. I feel so lucky to be alive at a time where sites/communities like this exist!

I'm a veggie traveller and nature lover (if there are any dumpster divers in the countries I'm travelling to please tell me! (And if you're coming to Scotland I can tell you the best places 😉)

It's been my dream since I was a child to travel and meet people and learn about their lives and culture and language, so it's for that reason that I'm on Couchsurfing :)

🏳️‍🌈 Queer/Trans/NB-friendly (and I hope that you are, too)
🍁 420 friendly (I don’t smoke while travelling, but I don’t have any issue with hosts smoking it 😊)

* I am NOT using CS for hookups - only for friendship and cultural exchange.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to meet new people/make new friends and discover new places while on my travels.
Discovering new languages, cultures, foods, ways of life, places, experiences has been a huge passion of mine ever since I was a kid.
I love connecting with people. There's something really beautiful about trying food made by somebody native to that country, or learning words and phrases you wouldn't find in a textbook, or watching a language film in the company of a native speaker of that language... Etc. 😊

My favourite genres are sci-fi and fantasy/action/adventure/comedy and mind-boggling ones. I also love documentaries 🤓

Also partial to a good Disney film and I LOVE Studio Ghibli 🥺

I also love TV shows like Brooklyn 99, Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Modern Family, Criminal Minds etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started university at age 16 and lived there until living in Italy at 19 and France at age 20 which I feel made me really mature for my age and gave me incredible opportunities such as going to Poland with a friend/flatmate from 1st year of uni, my first solo trip at age 19, and graduating with a first class degree at age 21 :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I think every human being on this planet has a fascinating story to share, and I love learning about other people and their life, culture, background, philosophies of life etc :)

I would like to be a journalist some day, and I’d like to build a portfolio from my travels. I’d love to show the world cultural events/philosophies/ways of life in the country I’m travelling to. Also I’m really interested in social issues and human rights issues, so if there is an issue in your country that you’d like to talk about or bring awareness to, I’d be absolutely delighted to interview you and create a video about it 🥰 these interviews can be done remotely or in person!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach English to those who want to learn more as it's my first language and have experience teaching it

I also love vegan cooking and baking so can cook for you/share my recipes :)

The chance to help make a difference through journalism - see the “teach, learn, share” section for more info 😊

I love animals so I can look after your pets too!

I can share funny, warm and amazing times of genuine connection, which I feel is so essential in this scary world :))
