About Me
Hitchhiking and staying with locals has become my mode of traveling. I really enjoy the interaction with another person and the creation of some common ground between two people who might naturally be quite different.
I live, study and work in Berlin, Germany. Here are some of my closest friends with whom I exchange languages, go climbing, do yoga in the parks, go hiking, and stay up late discussing the vortex of life in which we find ourselves ^^
Some of my favorite travel experiences so far:
Riding a bike through the valleys of Transylvania with a group of Hungarians and being able to crudely communicate using the few words I'd learned at the time
Fleeing a storm along the Danish coast by very clumsily clambering over logs and creeks and forest brush. We got wet anyway and laughed a lot.
Hitchhiking from Szeged to Berlin and hanging out with truck drivers! It's really fun sitting way up there and listening to the obscure music tastes one can develop when one drives all day as a living!
(While still in Florida) sailing from my university town to my hometown because I didn't have a car ride. Doable when you live on a peninsula! (I don't know how to sail. I was with a group of people and they let me control the boat for fifteen minutes).
Standing at the precipice of a waterfall at night somewhere in the forest surrounding Oslo.
As a host:
I live in a comfy, quiet apartment in Neukoelln, a very interesting and diverse part of Berlin. If you're clean and respectful of the flat then you're welcome to stay! We can share meals, yoga, stories, and expeditions in the city :)
