About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see and learn as much as I can

ABOUT ME

I recently graduated from Goucher College here in Baltimore with a degree in philosophy. I decided to stick around the area and am living in and working at a State Park outside of the city. I am originally from a small town outside of Hartford, Connecticut. I love playing ultimate frisbee, soccer and guitar, as well as traveling. I want to see and experience as much as I can. I love having new experiences and trying new things. I'm pretty laid back, optimistic, easy going, and usually up for just about anything.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't think I could write out a fully satisfactory personal philosophy. There are so many facets to any individual, it is difficult to sum it all up in one statement. I know that sounds cliche, but I think it is really true. I would say that things like the golden rule, making the best of what you have, be curious, and other sayings are good starts at approaching an explanation of how to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couchsurfed a handful of times. I greatly enjoyed the opportunities and experiences couchsurfing provided for me while I was traveling in Europe. I have never hosted anyone, however, and feel the need to return the hospitality I was given abroad. I love the idea of meeting people and sharing experiences with them, this is such a brilliant idea, I'm really excited to be a part of it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed in Thessaloniki with Marios for a few nights, and then Christina for a few other nights as well.

I also stayed in Istanbul for a few nights with Mutlu, and then with Gorcan as well.

One week in Berlin with Jakob.

A few days in Amsterdam with Menno.

Overall my experiences, although not that many, have been incredibly positive. I've met great people, and learned a lot about their lives and culture, which is what I find to be the most beneficial part of this whole social project.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music -Most types of rock music. Folk rock, Indie rock, classic rock, etc. I also like some jazz and blues music as well. A few of the bands I've been listening to a lot lately are: Wilco, Paul Simon, Beatles, The Band, Arcade Fire, Strokes, Ben Harper, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Dylan, etc.

Movies - I can't say I watch all that many movies. Some of my favorites would have to be The Departed, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Mighty Ducks (of course), and others I can't think of now.

Books - Also way too many to list here. Generally I prefer reading fiction, and just get books by word of mouth. Again, here is some of the stuff I've been reading recently. David Sedaris's stuff, Kite Runner, Heartbreak Work of Staggering Genius, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Dharma Bums, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Tomb of King Philip II and also hiking through the Vikos Gorge in Greece.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know what specifically I want to Teach, Learn, or Share. But the idea of doing all three is incredibly exciting, and I hope to experience a lot of all of those.

Countries I’ve Visited

Ghana, Greece, Israel, Italy, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
