About Me

Hello there, My name's Samir. I'm from Azerbaijan. I live in Baku last a couple of months. I had been living for 5 years in Izmir, Turkey. I'm a mechanical engineer. I work for a private company. I went to Turkey in order to do my masters. After finishing my study I came back to the my own country.

If I have extra time and will, and if my guests want to, I can take you on a short tour around the city or my neighborhood, just to let you see where are you and to learn something about the city you are visiting. I can take you to my favorite place in the city, show you where to buy the cheapest beer and so on.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The biggest advantage of Couchsurfing for me is to meet locals. I hope that talking to my hosts and getting to know them will teach me more than any tour I can attend about the country I travel to.

Open your mind
I believe that staying with people who live a completely different lifestyle also forces me to put into perspective the existence I’ve been accustomed to. It makes me question my own choices and leads me to understand that not a lot of things are either good or bad, ok or not, in this world: it’s just a matter of perspective.

Discover more
Adapting to different lifestyles, homes, cultures and traditions will make me both more sociable and flexible in my travels. Experiences also will give me a completely different outlook on any country. By spending time with locals during my stay, chances are that I’ll experience more than many foreigners on my journey.

Make new friends everywhere
Living with people creates unforgettable bounds. The simple fact that our hosts invite us into their home without even knowing us in person first is already amazing. The proximity of sharing a space will only bring us closer in just a matter of days. I am not saying that you will fall in love, but I believe that we will certainly create wonderful friendships.

Get the memories of a lifetime
And my last reason is this one: Couchsurfing will give me the memories of a lifetime. I believe strongly in the fact that we can learn something from every person we meet along the way. Couchsurfing just speed up this process tremendously, sometimes in the most unexpected ways and that makes me feel incredibly lucky.
