About Me
Hello,
My name is Samira, I am 34 and I am from France but don't feel very French.
I left my country when I was 24 to experience living overseas and discover the world.
I tried to settle down in France after 7 years of travel, overseas studies ... but sadly it didn't worked out very well for me :( especially after spending over 4 years living with the friendly/easy going Australians!!!
Describing my job or jobs is not simple as I am always curious to get new skills and I love studying.
After my high school graduation, I studied to become a travel agent but got bored quickly in an office so I moved into the hospitality world and worked in restaurants, coffee shops, luxury hotels. However during my years living in Australia I managed to fulfil and old dream to work with animals and completed 2 diplomas as a vet nurse and wildlife caregiver. Working with animals is more than a job, it's a real passion that I love to share with anyone who loves wildlife.
Australia was an amazing country and people offered me so many opportunities to do my dream job however when I came back to France, it didn't worked out the same way and I had to go back in the hospitality industry up to now.
So it wasn't a surprise when I got the working holiday visa for Canada that I decided to leave France again to live new experiences and hopefully get back into the wildlife world.
About me, what people would say is that I am a friendly and easy going person.
I am always keen on trying new things and as you may know I love travelling.
I see myself as a free person with a big bucket list who wants to see what's the world has the best to offer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet and spend time with travel buddies but meeting the locals is even more important for me and couchsurfing is the best way to do so.
When I lived in Australia, I met too many young foreigners who stick with people from their countries and don't really know the country and the people they live in.
I did the same the first time I went there as I was very young and felt lost and it's just human nature to gather with people from the same country and culture when you are overseas.
However when I became a student and was the only non Australian in my class, I got the opportunity to know the people that welcomed me in their country and I just loved it and almost even felt as a citizen.
What I except from my courchsurfing experience in Canada is to meet people that will show me and share the local way of life and hospitality.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love all kind of music except maybe metal and rap.
I am not a big fan of blockbusters movie as I prefer independent film maker.
I am a big fan of wildlife documentaries of course but also all kind of documentaries about the world and history.
I love to read all kind of books and I always have one in my bag.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing things I have done is to have made some of my dreams come true and to have given myself the strength and tools to fulfil them.
Travelling the world, working in wildlife conservation and of course working with my favourite animals (gorillas and chimpanzees) were childhood dreams that came true with time and hope.
Being close to the 4 biggest sharks in the world (White shark, Whale shark,Tiger shark and Hammerhead shark) was also a big achievement as I have always been fascinated by sharks and always wanted to meet them!!!
