About Me

I'm a very relaxed person who's keen to learn more about your life and experiences. I'd like to think I'm pretty easy to get on with and I enjoy chatting and travelling. My big passion is creative writing, particularly poetry. I love talking about books and films and I'm always keen to hear your recommendations. And I'm interested in sustainable living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Two reasons, really. The first is that I'm hoping to do a lot of hillwalking in 2017, particularly up in Snowdonia and the Cairmgorms. I'm also planning on completing a Lands End to John O Groats walk and would love to get to know you if you live close to any of the national trails or just like a good walk.
Secondly, I love meeting people and getting to know them, even if it's just briefly.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not sure I can narrow down a favourite film, but I tend to go towards the independent film scene rather than mainstream. That said, I do enjoy a good Hollywood blockbuster every now and again. I enjoy anything that feels real, or a really well made comedy.
In terms of books, I read a lot of fairly contemporary poetry and am a big fan of Ted Hughes, Don Patterson and Seamus Heaney, as well as Helen Mort, Sharon Olds and Michael Donaghy.
For novels I tend to prefer literary stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent most of 2013 travelling and managed to get around Sri Lanka, most of South East Asia, New Zealand and Korea. The one amazing thing is that I managed not to lose anything on the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got a BA and MA in creative writing and I'm hoping to work towards a PHD later in the year. Anything writing related I can help out with. Could be editing a letter or short story you'd like to send off.
I've built up some good and bad stories hillwalking and wild camping so if you're interested in either I'd love to share some favourite spots with you. Feel free to learn from my mistakes.
I'm keen on cooking, too, and always looking out for new recipes.
Professionally I'm a copywriter so could chat about marketing and digital strategy -- landing pages, social media ect.
