ABOUT ME

During my undergraduate career I had my first real taste of life outside the comfort bubble. I came to China on a scholarship to study for a year, taking advantage of 2 two-month long breaks to hit the road. In the 4 months I spent roaming this massive country, I got a small taste of life as a professional roamer. Having entertained fantasies about floating freely on the road with only my sketchbook, notebook, pencils, and some good hiking shoes since I was young, this brief dive into the lifestyle of a wandering bohemian was enough to determine in my mind that backpacking will be a permanent part of my life.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a relatively useless degree, I hopped a plane back to China, making my home in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province in southeast China. I am in my own personal heaven here, nestled in the mountains, and a short bus ride from such wonders as Tibet, Nepal, India, Thailand, Laos, Burma, Vietnam, and on and on and on....
My interests and hobbies revolve around art and nature, in all of their various forms. I love to paint, draw, write, sculpt, do torchworking (melting glass and making stuff with it), listen to any and every kind of music, camp, hike, rock climb, kayak, snowboard, swim, wander, roam, try new and bizarre foods, explore, and push my limits.

Some of my most memorable moments have been in my bridging of cultures, languages, and experiences with random acquiantences from across the globe.....I hope to continue in this form of cultural exchange, learning from others, hopefully sharing a bit of myself, and establishing friendships that defy distance.

I have only surfed once, but have hosted as much as I can. I have been bouncing around a lot the past several months and therefore haven't hosted in a little while...but I'm about to move into an amazing 3-bedroom loft and will be available to host again very soon!! yeah!!
