About Me

God is Love!
I’m from Mobile, Alabama
I like to watch Alabama football, spearfish, freedive, will learn how to surf one day.
I used to live in the Virgin Islands on St. Thomas where I started my love for boating. I worked as a snorkel tour guide on a 76’ sailcat and loved every bit of it. Wanted to move to Hawaii after the VIs but I guess it just wasn’t Gods plan. Moving forward a couple years. I lived back home in Alabama, then Nashville with a friend. Now St. Pete Beach, Florida. I’ve only ever worked as a captain here and it’s been great and though I wasn’t even really thinking about Hawaii recently, a very important person in Lahaina offered me a job as a captain/mate for Teralani.
I guess the only thing holding me back is a place to stay. So I’m trying to use CS or any other platform to help me with this transition.
I’m aiming to move down late June sometime after a hiking trip I have planned with my brother and best friend in Yosemite mid June.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with like people!

Interests

Sailing, longboarding, freediving, spearfishing, snorkeling, music, craft beer, good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

People seem quite surprised but I actually listen to Christian music a lot of my time. But aside from that. I’m also into house and electronic music. I like most of the stuff that popular kids play on boats these days labeled as, “big bootie mix”
I'm chill with lots of different music though. Not too picky. Recently have gotten into like country, have always been around it but never liked it until recently. Always good to keep listening to new types of music. You never know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a lunch break in the Virgin Islands, we took a dinghy to a barren island called Saba Rock about a mile and a half south to go catch some lobsters to cook for lunch. As we got into the water we heard very high pitched sounds coming from what we automatically knew were whales.
We then hopped back into the dinghy and scoped out the area and finally spotted them about 200 yards away. We then (totally illegal) went to the whales and kept our distance to about 10 feet parallel to them and took turns controlling the dinghy while some of us plunged into the water with our gear on and gazed upon the whales as they swam. There were 3, a bull, a cow, and a calf. Mom and dad were about 45 feet long and the baby was like 20 feet long. I swam right along side of them getting as close as 5 feet. I could have touched them like some other people did but my adrenaline had me keeping a slightly safe, but still very unsafe distance away from them. Along with hearing their communication at the same time. It was the most amazing thing that I have ever experienced. Will be so hard to top that. Life here I come!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A laid back personality. People often feel comfortable around me. I'm like the kind of person you could randomly open up to and be totally understanding and be like cool, let's be friends! I think this is why I loved captaining boats. I’m also a pretty good cook. I’m clean and organized.
