About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel and explore Europe during my semester, possibly year, abroad
ABOUT ME
I graduated from UC Berkeley, which I finished here in Berlin, went back to California to work for a few months, and now I'm back in Germany for a State Department intenship for a few months. I'm a bit of a political junkie, and in terms of my lifestyle I pretty much alternate between drinking and partying too much and being too relaxed and easygoing. I like learning new things, either trivial or deep. In UC Berkeley, I was a member of a professional fraternity that emphasized internationalism and foreign service called Delta Phi Epsilon, which has given me more and better friends than I could have ever hoped for. This section's getting a bit long now, I guess I'll return to it later.
Also, I'm in Germany right now, not DC. My work computer is run through a server in DC, which is why it says that as my last login location.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm not really sure what my personal philosophy is. Politically, at least in the US, I'm what would be called center-left, though I guess that's not really helpful as far as this category goes. Mainly, I like hearing different people's ideas and having friendly debates. Overall I would say that my philosophy is that we as individuals can't always act selfishly and expect that everything will turn out great for everyone, that we must sacrifice for the greater good, and that actions and ideas should not be stifled as long as they're not hurting anyone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like meeting couchsurfers in Berlin and have gone to a lot of events. Unfortunately my living situation isn't conducive to hosting couchsurfers, otherwise I would all the time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I lived in an unofficial frathouse (professional fraternity) in Berkeley, and we hosted many couchsurfers, I think around 10. I also couchsurfed several times in my travels last fall.
Interests
Politics, (re)discovering TV shows and music, stimulating conversation, trying to spot random patterns in every day life, being completely random and weird, trying new cuisines.

Music, Movies, and Books
My go-to answer to the favorite book question, whenever someone asks me, is World War Z, which I assure you, no matter how much you may have liked or disliked the movie, the book is better. Freaknonomics is a close second, and right now I'm on a Song of Ice and Fire and Sherlock Holmes phase. TV-wise, I like most types of shows, as long as they're not reality TV, and lately I've been on a bit of British TV show phase, namely shows like QI. Music-wise, favorite band is still RHCP, and whatever band/artist I've recently gotten into, which right now I guess is Of Monsters and Men.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Floating in the Dead Sea and going to Ein Gedi in Israel, going to Mount Sinai in Egypt, bowling under the White House and watching the sunrise over the National Mall in DC, hitchhiking from Utrecht to Amsterdam. I need to add more things to this list: it's why I love traveling.
