Hi! My name is Samvel Gevorgyan. I am Armenian, however, I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. At the age of 16 I was accepted and nominated for an opportunity to study in one of the United World Colleges, and luckily I was sent to Armenia. At the moment, I'm studying International Relations and Economics at Lake Forest College.

When it comes to music and the question: "What your favorite type of music?", my answer is always: "I listen to everything, every genre has good stuff." My most favorite styles of music are hip-hop, house, electronic, soul, and jazz. One thing I love to do with music is to share it. "Good music needs to be shared!"

I am not a big movie fan, but I still enjoy watching them. My all-time favorite movies are Scarface, and the Godfather trilogy.

Reading is one of my hobbies, for which, unfortunately, due to some reasons there is not much time left. I love to read novels, that are based on true historical events. One of the last books I read recently was All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. My favorite book at this moment is Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Many things I have done in my life were amazing. But amazing for me, and only for me. One thing that I have done and that had an impact on other people as well was a club that me and 2 of my other friends organized. The purpose of that club was to show our gratitude to the staff of our school and try to pay back with the resources that we had at that time. One of those few resources was our knowledge, in particular, the knowledge of a foreign language that is badly taught at the local schools. So we decided that it would be nice if we organize lessons for children of the staff and teach them English. The smiles of the children, the little steps they make, and infinite words of gratitude from their parents - everything that I got from this project was and is amazing.

Having spent 2 years in an international environment, I got a better insight into the world's numerous issues and learned about incredible things that I have never heard before. Now, being a student in the United States and having the perspectives from both sides, I can share my opinion about various things that are important at this moment. Hosts, on the other hand, can teach me a lot as well, because every person has a background that led them to the current moment, and that background hides lots of useful advice or some funny stories to share.
