About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make fun music, friends and food.

ABOUT ME

I value adventure, education, compassion, questions, and the front porch.

PHILOSOPHY

A guy I knew with a lot of adversity and a lot of character once told me "adversity builds character". I think thats a good way to look at it.

There's a lot to be said for Simplicity. The simple things are the best things (the ocean, food, campfires, trees); the people that live simply are a lot of times the happiest.

I believe God is loving and personal, but I tend to not trust people that know everything about him.

Mangoes not bombs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I take advantage of this fine program whenever possible. It has changed the way that I look at traveling. I've been able to see/do/learn so much that wouldn't have been possible without Couch Surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with several couch surfers throughout Florida, one in Costa Rica, one in Montreal, one in Seattle, several in Montana, one at Folly Beach, one in Boone, one in Greensboro, a couple in Portland and a couple in Dallas. Honestly they've pretty much all been great, interesting, hospitable people. After years of crossing my fingers, I finally got to host some couchsurfers. A team of guys riding their bikes across the country for fallingwhistles.com came through Angier and we threw a little party for them. Since living in Raleigh, I've hosted a handful more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a good documentary or dark comedy, but my favorite movies are Caddyshack, Fight Club and Cool Hand Luke. I like most creative music especially indie rock, underground hip-hop, and americana/folk. The band mewithoutYou is a favorite. I especially like to read books about adventures and traveling, although the best book I've read lately was the Autobiography of MLK Jr.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited 13 National Parks in about 3 months.
