About Me

My husband, Louis, and I are new to Arkansas but love this state. Even though many people lump AR in the "flyover state" category, it doesn't belong in that grouping. There's so much to do and enjoy here. We are having fun exploring the central Arkansas area as well as others. Love to share our experiences with travelers.
Summers are hot, so best to visit in spring and fall.
Both of us work at the University of Central Arkansas. I am a nursing faculty member and Louis is a department head in the College of Education. We usually get up pretty early to go to work, so late check-ins on "school nights" are hard to accommodate. Please do not book with us if you can't be at our house by 9 pm the first night. We also require all guests to be fully COVID vaccinated.
We LOVE animals and have three rescue dogs, two rescue cats as well as a mini Aussie, Marshmellow. She's a therapy dog and likes to comfort people in need.
So if you love animals, this is the home for you! If you have a lot of allergies and/or don't like critters, probably not a good choice to stay here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Thought it would be interesting to meet people from all over. We were members of the "educators B & B" before and had a lot of people stay with us through that, but seems like that services has ended.
We had some friends over last night who'd used cough surfing as a guest and host. Seemed to have a great experience.
Thought we'd give it a try and see what happens!

Music, Movies, and Books

Country music, not much into movies or TV (except for the DYI and Food Channels), but do enjoy reading historical books. We do not have a TV at our home or cable tv.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Opened our house up to many foreign exchange students from literally all over the world. To take on other peoples' teens with different cultural backgrounds is a real interesting experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a Master Gardener. And enjoy learning more about gardening and sharing that with others.
My husband is amazing and knows so much about so much from welding to educational psychology.
We have lived in many western states (Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington). Happy to share our knowledge of those states and others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Very comfortable house in a quiet neighborhood. We have a couple of rooms that can easily house guests, as well as a spare powder room.
We love to cook, particularly BBQ!
We are only a couple of Mr iles from the beautiful Beaverfork Lake
(see http://www.conwayparks.com/Default.aspx?tabid=738387) and many streams, rivers, and hiking trails. Plus, the Ozarks, Conway and Little Rock are close by. All have multiple interesting sites, shopping, hiking, etc.

Belgium, Belize, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Scotland, Spain, Wales
