ABOUT ME
They say that what you do is who you are. Well...
... I am a student: I study environmental & political science and really enjoy what I am doing. I hope to continue working in this field and I am dedicated to contribute to a sustainable and just world.
... I am a teacher: next to my studies I teach history, earth science and economics to secondary school kids. When I lived in South Africa I taught English at an after-school programme in the township Kayamandi. Both have been very rewarding experiences.
... I am a traveler: I feel most happy when I travel. Whether as part of my studies or on holiday, every opportunity to travel I grasp with both hands. Seeing new places, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures are the most beautiful things in the world to me.
PHILOSOPHY
Never lose the ability to be truly amazed by the world we live in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted many, and would love to start trying out some couches myself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before I moved to my current apartment where I live with my boyfriend I shared an apartment with six other students. We had a huge living room with some comfy couches and these were usually occupied by couch surfers form all over the world. This resulted in very interesting conversations, late night guitar sessions and hilarious bike trips in the city. I definitely met the most wonderful people in this appartment in Amsterdam. I especially enjoyed the Sunday morning brunches with my roomies and the travelers from all around the world who had found our place.
Yet, I have never in my lifetime couchsurfed myself.. it's about time!
Interests
I like to spend my time...
... horse riding: a childhood hobby that I recently picked up again. I especially enjoy exploring a new country on a horse back.
... reading: I read basically everything. When I find a good book I can't stop reading until the last page, and I will be very disappointed that the story has ended.
... cooking: food lets me relive the places I have visited. Idian curries, South African bobotie and Hungarien goulash soup have all found my kitchen. I love to cook for friends and enjoy a nice dinner with good conversations and a glass of wine (how cliche, but its true ;))

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy watching movies, although I tend to fall asleep somewhere in the middle and can never remember names of actors or film titles. Yet, I love those inspiring and moving stories that make you see things with new eyes. Today I saw the movie 'Ruby Sparks', definitely a must see!
I never fall a sleep while reading a book. When I find a good book, I just can't stop reading. I enjoy many different genres but the philosophical novels of Jostein Gaarder catch my attention time and again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Making a camel trip through the Indian dessert and spending the night spotting starts in the inky-black sky.
Driving through the South African Kruger park with my boyfriend in our budget rental car and turning a corner to see an elephant family with their new born babies play in the river.

Albania, Botswana, Bulgaria, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Serbia, Singapore, Swaziland, Tanzania, Viet Nam, Zambia
