About Me

dance on a moonbeam, wish on a star, and find home

I joined CS b/c I was going to Wellington (July 2007), with every intension to live there (finally managed this in November 2008!) and knowing no one. Ended up finding more CS than I bargained for back in Melbourne, and now and then say hi to CSers everywhere else (Scotland, England...). I'm mostly the "catch up for food/event" type of CSer, rather than the couching kind.
I *can* be known to ramble, but generally you need to ask something to get me going. And then it also depends what sort of mood I'm in to what sort of answer you get: silly, enthused, contemplative, etc.
Recent times have seen me: do the Melbourne, Adelaide & Edinburgh Fringe Festivals; get engaged; move 8 times in 12 months; miss my cat & dog... I'm still meant to be finishing my novel, as well as continueing my arts career (interactive murder mysteries).
I'm super open. You can pretty much ask me anything and I'll tell you. I'm also a rather positive/optomistic person (with a fair dose of skepticism). I'm pretty mature, and with maturity (I think) comes the freedom to act like a child. I have my sleepless party nights. I have my days of wearing pigtails. I have times when I go for long walks with my dog, and times when I spend countless hours counselling my friends. Luckily they've all got their shit together this year (2007), so I'm finally getting some self-reflexive time.
I'm very imaginative and a lateral thinker. I love problem solving. If you're ever trying to figure something out, I'll be on it in a second. Like a blood hound or something. And I *love* doing the whole "what's the worst that could happen?" scenarios -- I think I always come up with something plausibily extreeme. Oh, and I often make up words.
I'm Canalian (half Canuck half Aussie) and Kiwi at heart.
I've totally skipped over an essence of me: I'm a creative person. It's so engrained into me that I sometimes forget to mention it. At age 9 or 10 I decided I was going to be a writer. Also in childhood I did acting, by teenage years was getting seriously involved in theatre, and then by uni age I was behind the scenes, directing the action (I love directing. It's super awesome), and eventually creating the shows themselves. For those non-Aussies reading this, putting on a show here means doing everything yourself. And I mean everything. As well as writing and theatre, I like making stuff (you could try to call me a 3D visual artist, but the title doesn't fit quite right. I am trying out the title of installation artist though, and that seems to be going down better. Or maybe a conceptual artst. Dunno. I'm really facinated by interactive art (which of course borders on entertainment, or so all the high brow wankers keep pointing out to me) and so hope to do more of that in future -- combining writing and theatre and film and visual art and collaborating and drawing on games and those how to host a murder box games and...) Anyway - I'm creative. A lateral think. A problem solver. I'm not airy fairy, and I dont work as a waitress (or the modern day equivalent: in a call center. Shudder), but I am an artist nonetheless. ;)
Oh! And I want to learn to fly helicopters. My main pic was taken just after my first ride in a copter (ever). It's SO much different than a plane. It's like jumping up into the air, and being able to move around any old way you want. I mean, if there wasn't gravity. Sort of. Anyway -- 2 days later I scored a half hour flying trial lesson in Wanaka (yay Wanaka. You guys are the best!) and I flew a helicopter. Really. Seriously! SO cool.

What you believe in is true for you.

(I'm also trying out the theory that you can create pretty much whatever you want to have in your life... working well so far)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meet up with CSers sporadically - commonly to eat (I hate cooking, love eating good food!), or for other events. Also happy to email and advise on Melbourne/Edinburgh/Wellington (sorry, don't know much about Toronto).
