About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Hi, my location varies between my 100 year old home in Lathrup Village, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit), and my 550+ year old home in the bastide village of Eymet France. My mission is to keep Enjoying Life and being an optimist! Please read my profile and include references to your comfort level for accepting my offer of massages, which is one of my passions, as is meeting and connecting with awesome people!
ABOUT ME I am a 71 year young gay man, a "silver-daddy' some say. My partner of 8 years, Guillaume, 33, lives in Paris and was just visiting me for a couple of months. I'll be in France June, July & August 2025!
I am truly an optimist, with the attitude that the glass is always half full rather than half empty. My "rose-colored glasses" view of life is an inherited trait from my parents, especially my mother, who surfed with me in Key West for three winters and also with me in France while she was 91! Before she passed away her passion was to live life to the fullest, all the while embracing an "If Not Now, When" attitude about life. That is my motto also! In order to know that you took the time to read my profile before you ask to stay with me, your request must include the reason why you wish to stay with me, or at least the words "if not now when"!
I enjoy massage ~ it is my passion, I have over 30 years experience, and if you wish me to be open to hosting you, I would like you to be open to receiving a massage (one per day if you are lucky) from me during your visit; so please reference this in your CS request!!! This is not a sexual massage, yet it is intimate and usually the person getting the massage is nude, enabling me to properly be certain you get a relaxing enjoyable experience. Yes, I am gay, but open to hosting and massaging everyone!
We will get along well and you’ll increase your chances of getting hosted if you read my entire profile and ALL of my references! Be sure to make your request personal!
My home in Lathrup Village, the first built in 1925, in the 1.5 square mile neighborhood, is very unique, and quite comfortable. There are multiple bedrooms, and numerous areas for intimate conversations, or a gathering of many friends. Downtown Detroit, located 15 miles south of me, has transformed amazingly over the past decade and a half, which no doubt you've read about. The city is rated a top destination to visit, with abundant restaurant options, and our art museum is rated the #1 Art Museum in America!
As for France, the home in Eymet France is 550 years old and it was completely renovated over a three year time frame (2010-2012). Located in the Aquitaine region, Dordogne valley, in the bastide village of Eymet, it’s about 25 minutes from Bergerac and about 90 minutes east of Bordeaux!
I have opened my home to many CouchSurfers and am honored to have made so many wonderful, lifelong friends. Since late December 2009 I have hosted people in Key West, Florida to what amounts to more than a year's worth of lodging in just five months! I enjoy giving and receiving massages and hosting people who enjoy having their senses stimulated by an experienced passionate person. As massage is second nature to me, I also participate by offering my guests [and hosts] complimentary sessions to relax the soul, mind and spirit! If you are hosting me, you can be certain that I will be helpful in whatever way you desire.
PHILOSOPHY "What if the point of life has nothing to do with the creation of an ever-expanding region of control? What if the point is not to keep at bay all those people, beings, objects and emotions that we so needlessly fear? What if the point instead is to let go of that control? What if the point of life, the primary reason for existence, is to lie naked with your lover in a shady grove of trees? What if the point is to taste each other's sweat and feel the delicate pressure of finger on chest, thigh on thigh, lip on cheek? What if the point is to stop, then, in your slow movements together, and listen to the birdsong, to watch the dragonflies hover, to look at your lover's face, then up at the undersides of leaves moving together in the breeze? What if the point is to invite these others into your movement, to bring trees, wind, grass, dragonflies into your family and in so doing abandon any attempt to control them? What if the point all along has been to get along, to relate, to experience things on their own terms? What if the point is to feel joy when joyous, love when loving, anger when angry, thoughtful when full of thought? What if the point from the beginning has been to simply be?" Derrick Jensen (A Language Older Than Words) [Thanks to Couch Surfer Adam Staniszewski for the quote.] To have the knowledge that each of us are responsible for our own happiness in this lifetime. Do not worry. Just relax, breathe and be calm. You do not have to know where you are going to be headed in the right direction!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE My Couch Surfing has provided me with the some of the most amazing experiences and friendships I could of ever imagined; and so so much more; lifetime friendships and people I love! If you are asking me to host you, please let me know what it is in my profile that interests you in being hosted by me. You'll need something more than you are visiting the Detroit area or Southern France and need a place to sleep. For me, CS is about expanding personal connections with people in very intimate ways and not just offering a place to sleep. (I used to own a Bed and Breakfast for that purpose!). Therefore, in order to know that you took the time to read my profile before you ask to stay with me, your request should include the reason why you wish to stay with me and the words "if not now when”!

Last hosted by CS Marlene's cat Tilk, in Paris for 18 days, while Marlene went to the USA and we cat sat! .
Please read my profile and references completely before sending a request and please make your request personal as to why you wish to stay with me and include the quote: "If not now, when!" You will have the opportunity for your own bed; or you may share mine. I enjoy massage ~ it is my passion and if you wish me to be open to hosting you, I would like you to be open to receiving a massage from me during your visit; so please reference this in your CS request!!! This is not a sexual massage, yet it is intimate and while you'll be naked during it, I will not be; I'll have shorts on! I want you to be comfortable! I enjoy cooking and am happy to work together with you in the kitchen to create a delicious and artistic vegetarian presentation.
