I like languages! They affect how we think and perceive the world.

I am third/forth gen. American, born in Cleveland. I have German-speaking ancestors originating in the old state of Upper Hungary, Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia) and Polish-speaking ancestors from somewhere in Poland (possibly Pruszcz).

PHILOSOPHY

Don't try to control life so much. (a lifelong struggle)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not enough!
My couch is not big, but it is doable. Somehow it can be arranged. I do have a large bed too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined this because I want to seek out long lost relatives in Slovakia. I know that my family came from there (yet spoke German?) a long time ago to the USA.
Update: I found long lost family in Slovakia! How awesome is that?

兴趣

My favorite sport is skiing. I also like ice skating, hiking, snowboarding (i try anyway), just nature in general. Not much of a team sports fan. Used to play ice hockey, but gave that up after injuries. I play the piano, guitar, and sang in the university choir. I taught myself computer programming.

Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, Austria (the Alps!), The Grand Canyon, Rhein River in Germany, Space Shuttle Launch (twice!), Sunset in LA, skied the Alps (many times!), skied Rockies in Utah, skied Appalachian in New York, skied a small hill in Ohio. I climbed over the Alps into Bavaria.
