About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Qualify for international athletics tournaments (training, training, training)

ABOUT ME

Sports, traveling, having fun and more sport!! I'm a track and field athlete specialized in 800m. In 2009 I finished my education and decided to work part-time so I can spend more time on the track. I even moved out of the city in to the sand dunes so I could do some better training!

At the beginning of 2015 I was ranked top 20 of the All-athleticss world ranking list 800m, but I broke my ankle. I recovered and broke the "magical" barrier of 2'00 in 2016.

I continued running, made it to the semi-final of the World Championships in London and put 1'59 on the clock 3 years in a row, still working towards that one big goal on running at the Olympics!

Living an athlete's life can be pretty lonely sometimes. Between training you need to rest, but when I have some time off I'd love to meet new people and cultures! I've spent a total of 7 months in South Africa and another 9 months in the USA, raced/trained in more than 20 countries, but still eager to explore some more :)

PHILOSOPHY

Have fun, enjoy and never stop believe in yourself

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live together with my husband close to beach in a place called Castricum.

In February 2011 I went to Australia with a friend (Esther) to discover the country and train in a better climate. I've met some enthusiastic people through couch surfing and wanted to return the favor.

I've hosted a couple of people in Amsterdam. During 2011 and 2012. After our move to Castricum I got busy with renovation and training, but maybe in a while we have some room to host again!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For me couch-surfing is meeting new people and experience other cultures. I don't like the ambiance in a hotel, when staying with locals you see much more from the city!

When I don't have to work/train I make you a real Dutch Dinner (don't expect too much of that, cause the Dutch are no kitchen queens)

Interests

Sports! Especially Track & Field 800m and off course travelling, I hope to see as much countries as possible :)
