ABOUT ME

A critical thinker with an abstract approach, I like to tangle my pleasures into my obligations.

My idea of successful day of entertainment is making plans to do something fun, doing something fun, and then talking about how we did something fun. I really like seeing different sites and the people who frequent them. People watching is my fav, almost my super power.

My humor is a homegrown style unique to the midwest of America. I don't see anything I say as "haha" funny, but people around me seem to get a kick out of it. Serious or not, I'll roll with it. Laughing is the reward of being with good people and have a good time.

I keep my passions quiet until I find someone who shares them and then out comes my excitement like thunder. Randomness comes with comfort, so when the conversation ends up somewhere and no one knows how it got there, I'll probably be the goofball with the map.

I am also a pie addict. Favorite is dutch apple but I want to try them all.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in constant awareness of who you are, what you're doing, and who you're doing it with. The moment you forget is the moment you stop living and start existing.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to travel and see what and who is out in there on this globe. If there is one thing I've learned, it's that people can always surprise you by teaching you something new. I like what the people around me have brought into my life and would like to exchange with a wider group.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have never couch surfed.

Interests

Pretty scenery and laughter. Love a good movie, regardless of genre or length. I am not too big on horror movies but if it comes with high recommendations I will not put up a fight. I scream and get startled easy (it is a part of who I am and I accept it:). Also like anime.

I like to write poetry in my spare time and am learning to play piano. I sing in the shower. Might potentially be in a band with some friends. My initiation is learning the piano and then the guitar.

Food, I'll try whatever comes my way. Blow fish is on the top of my bucket list (hopefully it isn't the last). I mentioned pie. Smoothies, seasonings, meats that are unique to the region of the world. Anywhere I go, I'll take what ever is popular for the locals.

Memoirs of a Geisha: liked the movie and book.
Twilight: I know, I don't care, I tried to resist, but I somehow became a fan.
Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Kill Bill, Kung-fu Flicks, anything that won an award at the Sundance Film Festival.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I work with primary school students to help keep them engaged in school. Since 10th grade I've tutored elementary students in math and science. Now I recruit high school students to attend any type of higher education. I don't think this is particularly amazing, but it's something I enjoy.

A single mother who raises five boys while keeping a roof over their heads, now that's amazing!
