ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Alex. I have just finished my Masters at Cambridge University, studying Natural Sciences (specialising in Geology - my favourite areas are volcanoes and earthquakes).

Scuba diving in Ascension, canoeing across Denmark, flying a plane by myself, Barcelona to Rome on a bicycle, a trek to Everest Base Camp, Christmas and New Year in Vietnam, 2 month overland tour of Africa, a month working in a veggie B&B in France, 2 months working US summer camp and wandering NYC. I'm a guy who loves to hear a story and I've definitely got a few of my own.

Don't be fooled by my age, I'm a dependable guy, just ask my friends!! My word is as good as a promise and I don't let people down. Saying that, it's not all serious!! I love nothing more than to laugh and make others laugh.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't give anyone reason to dislike you if you can. Always consider other people's feelings. Try to be pleased for people when they do well and you do not. Don't have any regrets!! Always look on the bright side of life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently in traveller mode at the moment! Sorry folks, not in a position to host right now, mainly cause I'm always abroad and also it would be unfair to volunteer my parents as I'm still living at home!! Should change when I've got my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not part of couchsurfing but I let some strangers I met in a Hanoi street at 2am stay in my hotel room. Also stayed in Bronx New York with wonderful Lisa and been to a few NYC events still yet to sort out references silly me! Stayed with the fabulous Karl-Ove in Manhattan probably the highlight of my US trip!

Centres d'intérêt

Firstly, I love sports, especially football and (field) hockey.

Travelling is right up there. Enjoyed my year between high school and university as it gave me time to truly get to know the places I visited. I haven't been able to stop, filling my vacations with as many trips abroad as possible.

I also have a general interest in science. You would hope so, seeing as I have been studying Natural Sciences at university fro the last 4 years!!

I've always been keen on history too - the Romans gave me the idea of Hannibal's trail as a cycle route in 2012. Now I'm keen to explore the history of North America and the westward expansion across the continent.
