About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying not to stress, trying to make money, and trying to have fun in the process!
ABOUT ME
My name is Liz, I live in Huddersfield, with my boyfriend Dash. We both graduated from University in September 2011, he was studying Architecture and I was studying English Language. I would love to travel more, in 2011 I had my first Couchsurfing experience as a surfer in Switzerland and it was unbelievable, when I have the money, I'm doing it again, just not sure where I'll go! I love to write, so being paid to write about my travels would be a bonus, and I love to take photos. I like to take walks around cites and in beautiful scenery and I love to learn about other cultures, cuisines and languages.
REGARDING MY LANGUAGES
I have an A Level in German, but I have forgotten a lot, so please don't expect too much! My French is all from family holidays and is mostly tourist vocab (i.e. words for food, asking directions etc) and my Mandarin is very very basic, I'm learning from a CD, I can't read or write Chinese characters, and I've only learnt a few basic phrases so far.
PHILOSOPHY
I really want to NOT take my charmed life in the UK for granted. I want to help others, either in the UK or worldwide, who don't have my advantageous upbringing. I just want to gain some perspective.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I only one experience of surfing (an amazing 5 days in Switzerland), I have part-hosted an Austrian student, Daniel (my housemate was a member of Couchsurfing and we all chipped in to make Daniel's stay as enjoyable as possible - I cooked a traditional roast dinner for him and his Chinese girlfriend - though I am not sure how impressed they were!)I also part-hosted Nicci and Mark from Germany.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My housemate Oli (who I lived with from 2008-2009) has hosted some fantastic people and their travels have inspired me. In 2011 I had my first surfing experience staying with 3 different hosts in Zurich, Switzerland.
Interests
I love photography, cooking and learning new recipes. I like to talk about all topics (except cars and sport!).
I'm not very sporty, but I love to walk to places instead of using public transport and I like any activities that are on or in water - like swimming, body boarding and rowing. I'd love to learn to surf - the real kind, not just the kind on couches!
