About Me

Hello everybody,

my name is Sara Richetto and I'm from Turin, Italy.
I'm an enthusiast of foreign languages and traveling. I speak four languages (trying my best with French) and I love practicing even when I make a fool of myself =)

I've lived in the United States for three years (in Seattle and Colorado), in Australia for a few months, and in Chile for ten. Now I'm planning on moving to France in January to improve my French and beforehand traveling there for a couple of weeks to see what the country has to offer.

My future future plans are to go back to the US to get a PhD in Comparative Literature and one day teach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've used couchsurfing before when I traveled to Quebec for over a month, but I used my friend's profile, so I'm at square one again.

Now I'm on it because I want to travel a bit around Europe (now that I'm back here for a bit) and eventually maybe using it in the States too.

Unfortunately I don't have a house on my own and I don't have space for anybody to stay with me, but I always love meeting new people with traveling stories. So if you stop by Turin, please contact me and we could hang out and I could show you around this amazing city.

Interests

As I said, my main interests are traveling and languages. But I am also very much an art lover. Any type of art: music, film, visual arts, literature, dance, theater...

I also love animals (I brought a 5-month-old kitten with me from Chile).

Music, Movies, and Books

This is the hardest question...

My music tastes go from Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Tom Waits, to The Clash or Bob Marley; from Bloc Party to Vivaldi; from Florence + the Machine to some Italian hip hop...

Movies... Deconstructing Harry, Young Frankenstein, Seven and The Usual Suspects, and everything done by Roman Polanski. But I could talk for hours about this...

Books: I'll be studying 19th century novels from all over the place. Hawthorne and Melville, Hugo and Dickens, Goethe and Foscolo. But I read a lot of other books. One of my all time favorites is Pillars of the Earth (and IT by Stephen King)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Japan for a week when the big 2011 earthquake stroke... let's say that it wasn't that great to experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I normally teach the languages I know, but I've also taught literature and culture classes. I've learned more teaching than with all the studying I've done.
I'm still ready to learn more with another step in my education, but I found out that the best way is always by living and experiencing things on your skin.
Sharing moments, stories, and emotions with strangers is another important growing skill.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can bring my baggage of stories and adventures with me.
I can try speaking languages that I've never even heard of because it's fun, but it shouldn't be too difficult to communicate anyway.
