Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Brand new -- but would love to learn how to be involved.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've not had one, but I can't wait to experience it!
Interests
I absolutely love food, and am fast becoming a foodie. I am partial to almost all regions of food -- from Spanish tapas to Japanese Izakayas to Ethiopian wots -- and I'm slowly learning how to cook. I love motorcycles -- just bought a Suzuki GSF 400 from '92, and am learning how to ride for the first time. I love to bicycling trips as well, especially past rivers and the countryside. I love the sea -- I love kayaking and seeing curious otters peek their head above the water and peer into your soul. I love art -- whether in the form of theater, books, movies, visual art, clothing or design -- I could not live without it in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movies are strange and beautiful, like Pan's Labyrinth, or movies by Bergman, or Hayao Miyazaki. I also love sexy operatic movies like those by Almodovar or Fatih Akin, or the movie Infernal Affairs.
I have a long list of favorite writers: Yvonne Vera, Marilynne Robinson, Virginia Woolf, Penelope Fitzgerald, Vladimir Nabokov, E.M. Forster, James Baldwin, Isak Dinesen, Javier Marías, Roald Dahl, Ian Mcewan, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Elizabeth Alexander. One of my favorite lines from Baldwin: Ils sont sale, les gens, tu sais? Tous, sauf toi. Ne me laisse pas tomber, je t'en prie.
I must have a faulty inner ear, because while I love music, I do not attend to it very well. Right now, I like listening to old French pop songs, like Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Meeting my second mother in Boston.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people to make a mean banana date bread, or tom kha. Or share my knowledge of American law/legal system. Or with English, especially with writing, because I love to write.
