About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Sara, I am an elementary art teacher in South LA. I've been lucky enough to have parents who have always put school and travel above most other things in my life, and therefore have a pretty gnarly passion for traveling and learning about other cultures (maybe even an obsession?...yeah, totally an obsession). I really love new things, and am almost always willing to put myself outside of my comfort zone. I'm really friendly, and decently outgoing.

Interests

Well, I'm a total art freak, and I love exploring how art touches peoples lives in different ways based on how they grew up and where they live. Some other things I do/love: painting, drawing, dance (jazz is my specialty, but I love all kinds of dance), music, photography, lots of really right-brained things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Dogtooth, Gummo, Pulp Fiction, Blue Velvet, Fire Walk With Me
Music (genres): punk, hardcore, powerviolence, emo, experimental, folk, shoegaze, lo-fi, electronic (more recently due to a shift in my life, I have become more interested in pop and indie music - my boyfriend is a music producer, and I have really been enjoying the kinds of music that he and his comrades create).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel like my entire life is a string of these moments, and to single out a few wouldn't be fair. I know that's a cop out, but that's my answer. If you were looking for something more concrete, I will quote one of my favorite TV shows, 30 Rock: "I once saw a baby give another baby a tattoo. They were very drunk!" This sounds like something I would have said once haha.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do photography projects based on how people interact with each other, which can all be found on my online portfolio: http://cargocollective.com/saragaechter/
