About Me

I’m an independent healthcare practitioner and systems-oriented thinker who travels lightly and lives simply. I value clear communication, routines, and shared spaces that are calm and respectful. I’m comfortable on my own, curious about how people actually live day to day, and I tend to integrate easily into existing rhythms rather than rearranging them. I’m preparing for a longer stay in the Netherlands and using this time to learn language, norms, and culture in a grounded way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing to experience everyday life and social norms in a way that hotels or short-term rentals don’t allow. I’m not looking for entertainment or hosting, just a temporary place to land, coexist respectfully, and learn through regular, boring interactions. I value Couchsurfing as a trust- and participation-based system, and I’m here to engage with it thoughtfully and responsibly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately I’ve been watching Dutch films by Paul Verhoeven as part of learning more about Dutch culture. I enjoy reading sci-fi and speculative fiction, as well as history. I’m also drawn to cross-disciplinary media that connects ideas across fields (for example Freakonomics or Malcolm Gladwell).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Early in my career, I hired a close friend to work with me. Navigating the overlap of business, friendship, and power taught me a great deal about boundaries, communication, and conflict management. We eventually chose different professional paths, and I’m grateful that we did the work to preserve the friendship, and they’re still one of my closest friends today.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy thoughtful conversations about health, bodies, culture, migration, design, and how systems work (social, medical, or otherwise). I’m happy to share practical knowledge about somatic health, stress regulation, and living well with constraints. Always informally and only if welcome.

I’m learning Dutch (early level), and I’m especially interested in everyday customs, communication styles, and what “normaal” life looks like beyond tourist spaces. I appreciate learning through small, ordinary moments.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m a low-impact, self-contained guest: tidy, quiet, communicative, and respectful of boundaries and routines. I’m happy to help with small household tasks if appropriate and to share a meal or cook once as a gesture of thanks. Mostly, I bring reliability, consideration, and ease. I don’t expect hosting, but I do thoroughly value mutual respect and clear agreements.
