About Me

My name is Sarah, I am from North Carolina, USA. I have done lots of travelling all over the states and I am currently travelling in South America with my partner.
Over the last few years since graduating university, I have been on the move, doing various jobs and getting an education through real world experiences. Currently I have been widening my perspectives through doing work exchanges, where I have learned so much about how people in different countries make th best use of their surrounding resources.
I love hiking, identifying plants, practicing speaking spanish, planting and cultivating, and cooking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because when I first heard about it years ago I thought it would be awesome to be a host and give people an authentic experience of the best parts of my hometown. Well, years ago I never really had a space of my own to host anyone, so I pretty much forgot about it. Now as a traveler, I find myself on the other side, really wishing I had a host who could offer advice on the best things to do!
I think Couchsurfing is a great way for people to interact, engage, and share an experience. I like to believe that the world is always trying to care for her inhabitants, and as people of this earth we should care for and support each other in whichever ways possible!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have many many favorite books, but one I just currently read that was fantastic is "A Man Without a Country" by Kurt Vonnegut. It's short, concise, and relevant.
I hardly watch and movies or TV, and I am limited to listening to music only when I have internet access, which is infrequently. So I'm a bit behind the times, but I always love the music of Gram Parsons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working for the youth conservation corps has been an awesome experience! I was the leader of a crew of 10 teenagers.... for 5 weeks at a time we would go into national forests and do trail work. We got to do some really bad ass jobs (building puncheons, using crosscuts) in some really remote places!

Teach, Learn, Share

we are all lifelong students of this universe! There isn't really anything that I'm not curious to know about. Im willing to teach what I know, and learn from others always!

What I Can Share with Hosts

With hosts, I can share an enthusiasm for cooking, helping with projects around the house, and playing with the animals. I would love to have the company of a local in exploring the location, but I also have no problems with self guided tourism!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Macedonia, Peru
