Overview
About Me
I've been traveling independently since I graduated high school at 16. I first moved to Spain, traveling Europe and North Africa. A year later I went and tried my hand at the Pacfic Crest Trail, but fell in love with organic farming, later WWOOFing across the country and managing my first organic farm at 18. I learned to bake bread, grow my food, and appreciate communal living. By 19 I took the train across the US and a ferry from Washington up the inside passage into Alaska. I began working on a homestead on a remote island of 5 people. Within a few months I was offered a position care-taking a cabin there. For 3 years I lived on the island off grid, using the skills I had learned to create my own homestead. Getting to and from town meant boating year round, which I preferred to kayak most of the time. After that I began care taking boats/homes during the summers in Juneau, AK, while in the winters I got my training as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Yoga Teacher. I've also completed my Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping under the qualifications of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK), as well the US Coastguard.
I still call Alaska my home base as I travel and learn.
Currently I am headed to Peru where I'll be doing some Permaculture projects with Paititi Institute, then basing myself in Costa Rica for a bit while I plan my next adventure of sailing around the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have surfed many a couch, and would like to be able to offer my own. I also love to travel, and this is a much more organic way to visit a place. A place is strongly influenced by its people.
