About Me

I am 20 years old, and on the cusp of graduating from the University of Reading in English Literature with Creative Writing. In September 2018 I will be attending the University of Sheffield to undertake an MA in Creative Writing - but I am having a year off until then to travel around and see more of the world. After interrailing around Europe in 2014, and studying abroad in Canada in 2015, I have grown very curious of the world around me, and all the different cultures that I long to experience.
I am also a lover of reading, writing, and music (specifically Red Hot Chili Peppers), a tennis watcher who has supported Rafa Nadal for 11 years, and a big fan of tea and the great outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This seems a great community to meet other like-minded people and experience cultures properly, by meeting people who live there, instead of just being on the fringes.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers for coming to 10 years now, and saw them 3 times in 2016 alone (a proud moment for me was catching Josh Klinghoffer's guitar pick in London, I have it framed because yes, it meant that much to me). Every year since 2013 I have gone to at least one festival, as I love being surrounded by music and people who love the same bands as me. Alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers I also love Biffy Clyro, Imagine Dragons, Nothing But Thieves, We Are The In Crowd, You Me At Six, Coldplay, Royal Blood, and Ed Sheeran.

Book wise I read basically anything that comes into my path, and I have always been like that. I love books more than almost anything else, and how words on a page can transport you to an entirely different world. But if I had to pick, top of my list would be the Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, Anna Karenina, Little Dorrit, A Tale of Two Cities, the Casson Family Series, and Percy Jackson.

I am a big fan of Disney films still, and firmly sit in the 'Tangled is better than Frozen' gang, although my favourite film as a kid was Mulan. I also love the film adaptations of all the books already listed, as well as admitting to loving cheesy films such as Love Actually.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studying abroad in Canada was one of the best decisions I've ever made, as it gave me 4 months where I was studying at a foreign University and exploring North America. I was reunited with a friend I hadn't seen in 10 years, who moved from the UK to the US when we were 9, and she introduced me to Los Angeles, the beautiful city she calls home. Living away from home for so long really made me a lot more independent as a person, and was the best decision I've ever made.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a proud Brit, and although our country has some history that we really should be ashamed of (which country doesn't, to be honest), I do think we have a fascinating cultural history. History was one of my favourite subjects at school, and I took elective classes in it at University, simply because I find it so interesting, so I would give hosts an insight into British culture and history. I am also a warm and open person who is keen to learn and see more of other cultures, so would bring positivity and openness to whoever was kind enough to host me.
