Overview
About Me
I'm visiting New York City until April 3rd. I am in the middle of the introvert-extravert spectrum, so I need to balance my time spent with others and alone. I am tidy, organized, and detail-oriented (I have two suitcases with everything divided into orderly packing cubes) and I am also flexible and accommodating (your space, your rules). If I stay with you, I'll be curious about you! But I'll also be respectful of your privacy. I'm committed to having clear expectations with you and to leaving your space having made a new friend.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Connection! I want to know what you love about the place where you live. I want to get a taste of what your life is like and what some of the possibilities for your life are. I want to know what excites you. I want to share quality time with friendly, open, genuine people.
Interests
Swing dancing! I love East Coast (Jitterbug) and have a budding interest in West Coast as well. I know a little salsa but my hips do lie, I'm afraid. I LOVE thrift store shopping-- I love that each piece has a history and there's not another one in existence just like it. It makes me feel like I'm rescuing an underdog. I love animals. I have a rescued pit bull back home. One of my dreams is to meet an elephant. I love rest, breakfast foods, board games, and chocolatey desserts.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like Josh Groban, show tunes, and 90s music, although I'll listen to most anything that doesn't stress me out. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite childhood movie, and I like most Disney movies from that era. I liked the Butterfly Effect, but I don't usually like movies that are stressful or gory. I liked Amelie for its intricacy and quirkiness. I could list a thousand books, but here's a sampling: Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Jane Eyre, Life of Pi, A Walk in the Woods, Stardust, Ender's Game, The Giver Quartet, and short stories like The Yellow Wallpaper, The Gift of the Magi, and Eumenides in the Fourth Floor Lavatory.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 16, my mom made me a version of the golden ballgown that Belle wears in the ballroom scene of Beauty and the Beast. I've worn it a million times since then-- I feel amazing every time I wear that outfit-- and my two favorite events were a Girl Scout day at a baseball stadium and a Halloween event for underprivileged kids. I got tons of smiley hugs from little girls and just enough side-eye from little boys to keep it interesting. It was adorable. It may not have saved the world but it felt amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you: Cake decorating, although I have no supplies with me. Singing-- breath support, articulation, projection, whatever you want. Theatre warm-up games! Minor clothing repair/ alteration. A bit of music theory. A bit about the Landmark Forum, which is all about living a life you love.
I would love to learn: Dance of any variety. Ukulele playing. Whittling or carving. Knitting or crocheting. Sushi rolling. Fancy hot chocolate recipes. Pretty much anything involving crafting and/ or food!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Enthusiasm! Baking! Singing (if you want)! Quietude (if you want)! Artsiness! Life coaching/ support for your unique possibilities! Mainly, an attitude of embracing you and whatever is moving you right now.
