The Backcountry Trails Program.
Hard work. Low pay. Miserable conditions.
6 month in the remote wilderness of Kings Canyon National Park. No electricity. No running water. No communication with the outside world (aside from letters brought to and from by mule trains.) Few modern comforts.
Sleeping in a tent. Early, sore, cold mornings. Long grueling hikes to do long grueling trail work in harsh conditions. Frigid baths in lakes and creeks.

I miss it everyday.

A truly beautifully stoic experience with the most rewarding views and work.
