I'm a freelance writer and Creative Director for Future Media Management. It's a marketing and website company that My boyfriend and I run together. We have been traveling the country this past year, meeting new people and seeing new places. Occasionally, there are times when we need a place to crash for a night or two. That's where you come in (hopefully).

We are two very respectful, laid back and generally all-around good people. We believe heavily in karma and the universe and we put out what we want to receive back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We just got into a situation that requires us to leave the place that we are currently staying. We are waiting on flight reservations and will be leaving the area within the next week. All we are looking for is a place to crash for a day or two. RJ is a very skilled website designer and graphic designer and I'm a wonderful cook and painter. We offer our skills to you while we are staying in your lovely home.

Interests

My interests include cooking, writing, painting -- anything creative. RJ loves business. His company means the most to him. Marketing and web design are among his passions, as well as web site brokering and Bitcoin.

We share a love for music and comedy. We don't watch a lot of TV but we enjoy putting on a good stand-up special or listening to a comedy podcast. Some of our favorite funny people are Louis CK and Bill Burr but we also love the classics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music -- I love the Strokes and Phoenix and bands like them and I'm also a lover of the oldies and classic rock. Rj is really into underground emo music and more unconventional bands. We are very open to a lot of different kinds of music.

Movies -- I'm not a huge movie person but some of my favorites are Wes Anderson films and also documentaries. RJ prefers movies and documentaries that provoke thought. A recent film that we watched together is CitizenFour.

Books -- I am an avid reader and Stephen King was my first love. After that I got more into the classics (Fahrenheit 451, 1984, A Brave New World) and recently RJ turned me on to Ayn Rand and a few other books like hers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The one amazing thing we've done was left our old life of punching clocks and working for other people. We wanted more out of our lives, so we decided to sell the furniture, pack up the car and start our adventure. It's been a little less than a year, but we haven't looked back. In that time I've learned a lot about web design and marketing and RJ has learned how to knit and crochet and together we've created this traveling lifestyle that is unique. We've taken RJ's company to new heights and it's still growing. It's a decision that has transformed my life and taught me what freedom and working for yourself is all about.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write here :) All I can say is yes to all of them. I know I have things to teach and so does RJ. Our minds' are always open to learn new things. Sharing is awesome, whether it's sharing ideas, sharing space, sharing thoughts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What we can offer is our personalities, our story and our skills. Taking in strangers requires a certain kind of person. Most people who do this are open to meeting new people and having new experiences. We have a story to tell, skills to offer and an open ear and mind to share experiences and ideas with the people who host us.
