ABOUT ME

I've been learning and working as an ecologist for the past several years. My most recent work included trapping desert mammal communities (kangaroo rats, pack rats, various plants) and migrating hummingbirds. I'm happily married and my furry family includes a small cat and an adventurous dog.

My favorite things are a good walk outdoors, having fun with dogs, seeing new people and places, and enjoying an excellent meal.

I like to read almost anything, but my current favorite author is Haruki Murakami.

I enjoy playing the guitar, especially with others. Most things I play fall into the folk, bluegrass, or indie categories, but I listen to a wide range of music.

Nightswimming in the ocean near a deserted beach on Taveuni, Fiji. The water was black and full of bioluminescent creatures. The sky was black and full of the southern hemisphere's stars. We could barely tell where the sky ended and the sea began. Surreal and amazing.
