About Me

ABOUT ME

I talk too much, but I listen too! I'm interested in people, what they think and why.

I will now be travelling in México for 6 months with my daughter. We would like to meet up with other families along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's such a lovely way to meet people, to share things and be able to show them around your town and let them know what's going on. I love getting to know people over a cup of tea and a smoke and it's so much more relaxed in (for me anyway) in a home environment. I've had such positive experiences with everyone I've hosted, and wouldn't have become friends with them so easily in any other environment. Now that I am travelling I would love to meet people who know the places not on the tourist trail and make new friends everywhere I go.

Interests

I am passionate about all sorts of things, and I like understanding why, especially where there is difference, where it comes from, what things mean, the roots of ideas, and how this plays out in what people do, and how they feel. Language and culture, how the words we use influence how we feel and act, how they have developed through time and geography and how everything connects and becomes the reality that we experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sun set into the sea from Monolithos Castle in Rhodes. I had only ever seen a sun set into the horizon before, but from that viewpoint it sank, and the water absorbed it as though it had become liquid.
Sleeping on a nearby deserted beach was another moment of pure beauty - the night sky unpolluted by light, the glittering stars in their thousands.

Climbing Tajamulco, the highest point in Central America and camping at the top. We scaled the summit in darkness and the stars were incredible, so close you felt you could touch them, then waited for the sun to come up and reveal all the surrounding volcanoes. If you are in Guatemala look up Quetzaltrekkers, the guides are volunteers so the money you pay goes towards local street children's education and welfare. It's was a tough climb for me, but worth every breathless step, do it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like discovering things together, but can teach you how to make the perfect cup of English tea if we can get the right ingredients (I'm not in the UK anymore!) I want to learn everything and one of my favourite couchsurfing experiences was Stéphen helping me with the unicycle, wonderful!

Let's share meals, stories, smiles and adventures :)
