I'm a friendly 30 year old woman from New Zealand. I recently spent a couple of years working and travelling around NZ, the UK and Europe, but I am now back in NZ and studying to be an Occupational Therapist. I'm a pretty cheerful, positive person and I try to see the best in people/things/situations. I'm easy-going and open minded.

I love travelling and I enjoy meeting people; I find it fascinating how different we can all be yet still have a lot in common.

I do my best to live life to the full and to have as many experiences as I can; when I get to the end of my life I don't want to be thinking "I wish I did that". I am trying to live without regrets and to live more in the moment.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

For me, I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet "the locals", and to get to see the "real" side of a place and its people. It is a much more personal way to travel than staying in a hotel. I haven't been in a position to be able to host people yet, but I imagine that hosting allows you to meet people from all around the world and to experience different cultures.

Intereses

Travelling!! I love going on adventures and exploring new places, especially those little know places that are "off the beaten track". I feel lucky to have the chance to discover our amazing world and the interesting people who live in it. "Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer".

Photography is another big passion of mine, esp landscape photography, but I enjoy taking photos of anything really.

Animals - I love pretty much all animals but especially horses, most of my career/jobs to date have been working with them. I'm also interested in animal behaviour and training.

Nature and the environment. I love being out and about in nature. I am passionate about the environment and love hill walking and hiking.

Reading books, being creative (I enjoy making jewellery and have done some pottery in the past), meeting new people and swapping stories.

Helping people - I love to feel like I'm making a positive difference in the world. I really like this quote from Jane Goodall: "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make."

But I always enjoy learning about anything new, am pretty open to most things. :)

The authors I've been reading recently are Jojo Moyes and Jodi Picoult, but any good writer will tempt me!

One of my favourite movies is "As it is in Heaven", which no one has ever heard of. Can never think of other ones off the top of my head - depends on my mood. Tend to like Dramas more than Action/Thrillers/Horrors, but usually up for watching most things!

Music choice varies a lot - not a big punk rock or heavy metal fan but open to most types. Generally like easy-listening type stuff.

I spent 2014-2016 working and travelling around NZ and Europe. I've had so many amazing experiences and met so many great people but a definite highlight was having the chance to swim with dolphins in Kaikoura, NZ - it was absolutely incredible! :)

I spent time volunteering in refugee camps in France and Athens, which was a life-changing experience.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I think that we all have something to share and to learn from each other, but you don't always know what it is until you meet.

I would like to think I'm a good guest - I am friendly, cheerful, polite and tidy and am happy to fit in with what suits each host (but I guess different people have different criteria).

I enjoy meeting people and I love swapping travel stories and experiences. Sadly I don't have a base to offer for hosting at the moment but am keen to repay the favour when I can! :)
