About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to nurture healthy relationships; raise our daughter in a gentle way so she can grow with love; nurture health; and add love and gentleness to life around me.

ABOUT ME

I spent many years working as a professional therapist in a small community in northern British Columbia, and creating art and travelling extensively when I could. I really love to celebrate with beautiful music, safe artistic communities, and travelled around doing so for many years. Recently we had our daughter, and I am now hunkered down giving energy and love on the home-front. I am meeting the adventure itch by focusing on experimental theatre productions in this rural community.

My main experience with Couchsurfing was when I was travelling in Ireland several years ago. I met up with a really beautiful crew of couchsurfers and they opened their doors and hearts to me. I have been pretty disconnected from the community since then, aside from visiting those couchsurfer friends since then, who are now life long friends. I've been really looking at my relationship to the world around me since our daughter was born, and am inspired by gift-economies and sharing relationships that are nurtured in contexts such as Couchsurfing. My community is pretty healthy and people are sharing and supporting of each other. There are people coming to visit and stay and being hosted all of the time - and it's encouraging that the Couchsurfing community can nurture this kind of sharing in a strong and healthy way around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Grow with love, nurture gentleness, go organic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am mostly reaching out to have conversations with people who live where we are travelling to learn and develop a relationship with that place through those conversations. That is also what I have to offer those who are travelling in our area. I really appreciate the opportunity to feel like part of a community while travelling and to provide that opportunity to others who are respectful and care about the community that I live in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love that this community exists, and I hope to develop relationships those in the community and share in it.

Interests

I love being active outdoors in all seasons. Where I live there are 6 months of winter, so we go 'back country' skiing/snowboarding and snowshoeing all winter as well as outdoor fire and jams and musical gatherings. I love outdoor fires, camping, hiking, rafting, and walking through the forest. I also really love to create things. I love larger city centres for connecting with other artists who have a creative momentum going and then collaborating or participating in some way. I love the randomness of cities and the 'anything is possible' feeling. I love meeting new people and really miss this where I live. I love the human psyche and nurturing healthy whole-being connections in myself and those that I love and meet. I am just learning about creating films and have been working on creating short films this summer. I hope to continue to do that more and more in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

A movie that comes to mind that I liked was Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot. Recently enjoyed the book A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I really love a journey that I took to south east Alaska a few years ago. I hopped on and off the ferry along the coast with my bicycle and tent for 1 month. I ended up in Sitka, rented a kayak, went to Kruzoff island where I hiked the volcano Mount Edgecomb. Then kayaked along the back side of the island and hiked across to the open ocean. What incredibly beautiful ocean celebrations, nighttime swimming, large fires, and the biggest grizzly footprints that I have ever seen!

Teach, Learn, Share

Right now I'm focused on supporting our daughter to be strong, healthy and have lots of fun. I'm also interested in learning about local plants and their medicinal properties.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Listen and share where there feels like an opening to share (cooking, cleaning, attending to plants and animals, reading stories to your children, etc.)
