About Me

Originally from Amsterdam. Currently studying Medical Anthropology in Durham, UK but ready to explore more of the world! Really nerdy about human evolution be warned :) But I also have other hobbies don't worry ;) O and I sing (not only in the shower) but my flatmates say it's good. Apart from that I am involved in many global health initiatives and coordinate Universities Allied for Essential Medicines UK. What I enjoy most is good coffee with good conversation and good friends, although I like to explore the nightlife in the places I visit as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am attending a conference in Zürich this summer to present my own research for the first time. Would you be so lovely and offer me your couch? I'm looking forward to exploring the city!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oi too hard mate.
I am currently reading "A Tale of Love and Darkness" by Amos which I thoroughly enjoy! Can recommend.
Music: all kinds of music :) not very picky with that. Most likely to be found listening to jazz though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have dug up a 400,000 year old turtoise in Spain. Basically I spent some time at an archaeological dig there but the turtoise was my favourite find.
Floating in the Dead Sea a few weeks ago is also quite up the list.
Last summer I did a few weeks of fieldwork in the Congo rainforest with the Mbendjele Hunter Gatherers, which I think is the most special trip I have taken so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a free singing lesson if that is something you fancy
I make a nice quiche and chocolate cake is my specialty (although my family has named it 'the chocolate bomb' so be warned, it's heavy...) I have just gotten into lasagna making and I am currently trying to perfect my recipe.
