ABOUT ME

I'm currently loving life and living it up to the fullest. After 3 years in Mali, and traveling around West Africa, I'm moving on! Headed to Asia now and then back to the States with my Malian husband!

I'm into learning about new cultures, picking up new languages, and just chilling with locals - whether they be from the country, or expats.

There's always more to learn in life, and travel is the best form of learning!

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to be happy - and I fullfill that by doing whatever will make me happy. Traveling, learning and experiencing great food all go hand in hand with being happy.

I've definitely broadened my movies, music and books since joining Peace Corps, so here are a few favs:
Movies -
Music - MIA, Dixie Chicks, Weezer, Timberland, ABBA, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Jimmy Buffet, Nelly Furtado,
Books - The Alienist and Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr, anything Bill Bryson and David Sedaris, John Grisham, Jumpha Lahiri and Thomas Friedman. Wanted to read the "Classics" but I chose instead to define my own "Classics."

I always thought people coming to West Africa were crazy if they didn't speak French. Now I'm going to SEAsia and I don't speak Thai or any other language. I'm scared - both of not being understood and of other people looking at me and thinking the same thing I used to think about others. I'm sure this trip will have a profound change on me.
