ABOUT ME

A famous American painter named Robert Henri once mused, “Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.” He arrives at a simple conclusion that does its best to encompass the wonder that the ocean has inspired in countless minds throughout history. As a child, there were no limits to what treasures I imagined hidden in such an enormous, watery chest. As an adult, the ocean still maintains a steadfast grip on my imagination.

So at this point in my life, I find myself studying the ocean and absolutely loving every second of it. I am a lover of both people and the ocean, and dream of a future where those two passions of mine are able to interact in a much more sustainable way. The ocean provides so much for us, and I hope that my work will better understand the interactions of humans with the sea, and inspire respect and stewardship of the blue part of our blue and green planet.

PHILOSOPHY

I care about living outside of myself, and I think that travelling, meeting new people, and seeing new things is one way to let that happen.

In addition to my love of all things aquatic, I also love to travel! I had the opportunity to co-host some wonderful CS-ers in the past and hope to do so again when I am back in one place. I love meeting amazing people during my travels through CS!

I stood on the top of a mountain in Ecuador watching the sun rise with a herd of wild horses nearby.

Swam with mantas by the light of the stars and moon.

Played mom to an orphaned baby wallaby in the Australian outback.

Caught a epaulette shark on the Great Barrier Reef with my bare hands.
