About Me

Hello! I'm a twenty-three year old youth services librarian at the Hartford Public Library. In college, I majored in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology, so a love of adventure has definitely been instilled in me. In my spare time, I like to hike, cuddle with my dog (a wonderful Australian Shepherd named Rugby), take photographs, and, of course, read! I've been teaching myself German for the past year and can also speak Spanish and Latin (well, read it, anyway)! My motto comes from the Roman poet, Catullus: "Iam mens praetrepidans avet vagari." (Now the mind, trembling in anticipation, wishes to wander.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I said, I have a love for adventure! My wanderlust is pretty insatiable, and meeting people along the way couldn't be any more awesome. Unfortunately, since I live at home with my mom, I won't be able to host anyone!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into alternative and metal music (more along the lines of symphonic, power, and folk metal, really). Tolkien has had a huge influence on my interests as well. Lord of the Rings is life, basically! I also love reading nonfiction about history, science, or the history of science! As for fiction, I'm a sucker for historical fiction and a good thriller.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent six weeks in Greece in 2012 working at the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens and excavating a Mycenaean settlement outside of Patras. Then in 2014, I spent five weeks in Tarsus, Turkey excavating another site.
