About Me
Hi! I'm Lorenzo, i am 21 and i live in Parabiago, near Milan. I am a philosophy student and also a piano student at music uni. I like stupid jokes and deep art. I try to imitate Christ, but i am not religious. Also i haven't read the Bible so i don't really know what Christ says. I will, tho, someday.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Me and my dear friend Lorenzo have wanted to try to travel with couchsurfing for a long time, and hopefully this summer we'll manage! We love to meet new people while travelling, and also we don't have much money, so this is the perfect solution. And maybe if all goes well we'll start hosting people at our place! Our town kinda sucks tho, and we call it "Shitmud", but luckily its near Milan.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of genres, but my main interest is in "classical" (as in "composed") music. My favourite composers are probably Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, Schoenberg, Stravinsky and Ligeti. Some pieces i really really love are Mahler's 1st and 2nd symphony, Schoenberg's Verklarte Nacht or Stravinsky's Petrushka piano suite. I listen to all sorts of composers from late 15th century to late 20th century, tho. I also really like experimental electronic music and nonsense music (Ligeti's Nouvelles Aventures and Elio e le Storie Tese are some good examples. Also some Federico Maria Sardelli). I listen to jazz from time to time (very broadly, not an expert) and like to improvise some really basic things. I often listen to various other genres, tho.
As for movies, some of my favourites are Life of Brian and The Holy Grail (these 2 of course from Monty Python), Cloud Atlas and Adolescence (this is a series tho).
As for books, i sadly am not reading many novels at this time because i'm too caught up in reading philosophy (the research cannot stop AND it consumes me), but i'd like to read more of them in the future. Some of the philosophers i am more interested in are Socrates, Spinoza, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Foucault, Wittgenstein and Carlo Sini. Of some of them i have read something, of others i still have to really begin my research. But i intend to read more and more with time. My main interest is the question of how to live, how to live the good life, what is truth, what is the relation between truth and life. Philosophy is not a science nor a doctrine, but a philosophical life. I am still at the beginning of my journey.
Being a musician and more importantly a music lover, i am also interested in the study of what gives meaning to art and the phenomenon of meaning in general. This brought me to read about semiotics, aesthetics and philosophy of language.
Before uni i used to spend entire days reading and doing mathematics. I was especially passionated about fractal mathematics. But when the time came to choose, i choose philosophy and music, and now it has been a long time since i last had fun tackling a mathematical problem. I still love her tho, and if she returned i'd want to reunite with her. But i think it was for the best: we would just have hurt each other.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When i was 10 i understood the fleeting value of material possession and consequently decided to stop asking for presents to Santa Claus (Babbo Natale!).
