About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out adventures unseen.

ABOUT ME

My name is Scott. I am a historian by training but am currently working as an English teacher. I hope to follow this rabbit hole a little further as I attempt to connect my love of internationalism and a career.

I am friendly, polite, spontaneous, and dependable. I am a respectful and low-maintenance guest. I love word games and to laugh at the absurd.

PHILOSOPHY

“Attempts to locate oneself within history are as natural, and as absurd, as attempts to locate oneself within astronomy."

And the golden rule as a general approach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I recently moved to Europe and am trying to see as much of this continent as I can. CouchSurfing seems to be the best way to experience each city and meet fun, interesting, like-minded people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been to meetings but have yet to surf or host. (I tried to host in Boston but ended up moving before I could make it happen.) I hope to begin surfing very soon!

Interests

Internationalism, live music, history, period pieces, travel writing, sports, rock and roll, drinks with friends, traveling alone, road trips, dancing, songwriting, international relations, films that are fun to watch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie rock and roll; cheesy '80s films; the classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A friend and I climbed Mt. Fuji during the off season. I was prepared for the snow -- but not the altitude sickness. Still, it was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I am new to CouchSurfing, I will instead leave a travel tip:

If you have a layover at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (especially an international flight), allow yourself extra time. You might change terminals and need to go through security all over again. It is annoying.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Honduras, Ireland, Mexico, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Japan, United States
