About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Saurabh. I am a Punjabi who was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan but later (aged 5) moved to New Delhi and grew up there. I have also lived in North-East India (Guwahati, Assam) for a year during the final year of my schooling.

Self-flattering is not a desirable virtue, but these early experiences did make a nice base for my cosmopolitan outlook towards life. I have been able to make good friends from the cities I have visited or lived in.

I try to catch the language at first, mostly and I feel that is a wonderful ice-breaker in forging new bonds in unknown/new places.
I also try to explore the local food wherever I could - I love food and it gives me happiness. At times, my day's plans revolve around where and what my friends and I plan to eat.

I love music, going to movies. I enjoy watching Football and all major sports. I used to play Basketball while growing up, love playing Volleyball now. I like cycling as well.

I like doing outdoor activities. I have done a few hiking trips in India and Sri Lanka.

I feel - Greatest bonds are made on sports fields and dinner tables. So, let's do either of them and see where it goes!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The experiences of being exposed to different cultures of Rajasthan, Delhi, North-East India gave me a positive outlook towards different people and lifestyles. As I went on to obtain higher education (Post Graduation in Sports Management) at Kolkata, West Bengal , I got to taste the life of the "City of Joy" in Eastern India.

Once I started working as a Sports Management professional (mostly in Media and Communications), I gradually developed a travel bug.

Birthdays meant ticking off the travel bucket list now.

Independent travel wishes made me think of exploring the world beyond the national boundaries of my native place - India.
It is, however, sad yet surprising that I managed to get hold of my passport only in Oct 2017, but I thank my stars, ever since then, I have been fortunate to have travelled twice to Europe (in 2019 itself), Russia once for the FIFA World Cup (Dream-come-true for a sports fanatic like me-YAY!) and Sri Lanka.

Now, I have met some amazing people during my volunteering roles in Europe at different Sports World Championships. I have discovered that going to the Sports event is one of the greatest ways to explore this beautiful world. Some of my friends, from travel earlier this year, have suggested this platform to explore.

So, I am here. I wish to meet and find a couch for future travels around the world. I would love to provide my room in return in New Delhi, India. Bonus - I am an enthusiastic food walk tour person (amateur) and would love to take you out on the streets of Delhi for the ultimate "Indian Street Food" experience.
