About Me

I am I am Saykat Biswas, a professional writer and author from Bagdogra, known for emotionally driven storytelling with a strong focus on romance, human relationships, and character depth. Beyond writing, I have a deep love for traveling—especially to the mountains. To disconnect, reset, and find creative clarity, I often visit Gangtok for two to three days almost every month. These short retreats help me recharge and inspire my work. I am also an Amazon-published author, continuously engaged in long-form fiction and creative projects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

“I’m on Couchsurfing not just to find hosts, but to meet people from around the world—fellow travelers with different cultures and perspectives on life. I believe meaningful conversations and shared experiences are the best way to understand the world.”

Interests

“My core interests are writing and poetry, supported by travelling, cooking, and engaging with new people. These activities help me stay creative, grounded, and open to new ideas.”

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, books, and movies play an important role in how I explore ideas and emotions. I listen to all types of music across different languages, as it helps me understand cultures and moods beyond words; if I had to choose a favorite, it would be slow music—language never matters there. When it comes to books, I enjoy a wide range, including novels, crime thrillers, romance, science, human psychology, and perspective-based writing that challenges how we see the world. In films, I gravitate toward emotionally driven romance as well as high-energy action movies like KGF, where intensity and storytelling leave a strong impact.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

“I don’t know if this qualifies as amazing, but it is a moment that stayed with me deeply. On a rainy night, around 11 p.m., I was traveling from Gangtok to Siliguri when a landslide stopped our shared taxi. We took shelter in a small roadside restaurant, where an ambulance was also stranded. Inside was a pregnant woman in active labor. A fourth-year medical student was doing everything she could to manage the situation and attempt a normal delivery, but she needed someone with basic medical training. I had training in medical first aid, including CPR and AED use, so I stepped in. Together, we helped deliver a baby girl. After it was over, something overwhelmed me—I cried for hours. The mother was Sunita Thapa from Singtam, and the medical student had the surname Tamang. It is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Teach, Learn, Share

“I can teach poetry, Bengali culture—especially traditional food—and help with learning a new language. In return, I am eager to learn about different cultures and their cuisines, particularly local dishes that are less known and rarely documented.”

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer meaningful conversations, cultural exchange, and full respect for personal space and house rules. I’m happy to help with household work such as cooking, cleaning, or daily chores, and I enjoy sharing Bengali culture—especially traditional food, poetry, and language. I’m also open to teaching, volunteering, or assisting in any way that makes the stay mutually comfortable and positive. I value gratitude, openness, and genuine human connection over just accommodation.
