About Me

ABOUT ME

Born in Scotland, brought up and a citizen of both UK and Australia. Soon to be travelling with my 25 year old son to UK, France, Italy and Greece in Aug - Oct 2008.
I enjoy photography, travel, food and wine, music and experiencing all life has to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live, I think therefore I am, experience all that life has to offer as there is only one chance to fulfill a life, be kind and considerate to others, have fun (lots of it). As a former recruitment manager I find I can talk very easily with others and LISTEN because one doesn't learn while one's talking, if you get my drift.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a member of Servas and believe the whole concept of sharing experiences and information about our local regions of the earth is a worthy endeavour and the way to do it is best achieved via homestays with locals. My son hasn't as yet travelled and to my surprise he agreed to travel with me this time. I'm delighted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet - but have experienced many enjoyable stays via SERVAS International in Italy, Switzerland and USA.

Interests

Music, food, travel, people and cultures, backgammon, poker, bridge, photography, tennis, golf, exercise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the very late 70s my then wife and I travelled for 2 years during which we spent 6 weeks on a yoacht with one other person sailing the mediterranean and spending time on Corsica, Sardinia, Capri & Naples, Sicily & Calabria, continued on sailing across to the Peeleponese, through the Corinth canal and on to Athens and the Greek Islands. A magnificent trip. Other amazing undertaings were primarily involving our times with Servas people in Italy, Switzerland and USA.

Teach, Learn, Share

I expect to fully participate upon my return from my imminent trip overseas with my son and when I buy my home in November this year. I will then be in ap osition to open up my house to travellers which after all is a very good way to explore cultures and exchange information and thoughts on matters of mutual interest.
