I love to travel and explore different cities. I'm a Human Development Psychology student from Chicago and one day want to open up my own practice to provide affordable therapy to people who live in low income communities. Currently working in career advising at my university.

I love arts and crafts, am a huge sci-fi and comic book nerd and am pretty open and friendly. I also love taking tours, both from a local and touristy point of view, and the outdoors and going on some fun adventures. I love to socialize, to make new friends everywhere I go. I’m okay with exploring a place on my own and being independent but just as much love having company or someone who can show me around. I like to learn about people's different backgrounds and how we all come from different backgrounds. I'm a pretty progressive person, and really just like hearing everyone's story.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always find that couchsurfing is great to meet locals and really get to know a city. You'll meet cool laid-back people and it gives you some info beforehand so you'll know if you're a good match. I find when you stay in hotels you don't really experience the city in a way that is immersive. I like to get to know a city from a local perspective, not a tourist one.

I also love the little culture and community that CS seems to have. Events in the area, meeting some awesome people. I'm a social person and I love people!

I've been a member since last year and have gone to a couple local events but this will be the first time I'm taking a trip.

I’m currently unable to host at this time as I’m living with family, but would love to meet up with travelers to connect and show them around Chicago!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I love any kind of music, though I especially have a love for musicals, rock, 90s pop, classic rock, and Motown. I play guitar and piano and grew up listening to a little bit of everything.

Movies - I love comic book movies! Marvel especially. Romcoms are my favorites too, and any inspirational movies based on true stories. I also love Disney. Star Wars, LotR, and any musicals are great too.

TV - I am more into TV than movies. I will talk your ear off about Flash and Legends of Tomorrow if you’re into those. I also like anything remotely sci-fi. Stargate, Firefly, Doctor Who, Black Mirror, Sense8, Supernatural, Sherlock, Merlin...the list goes on and on. Currently watching Better Call Saul.

Books - I love classic novels, sci-fi and fantasy books, Stephen King novels, really anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I knit a lot of geeky stuff and opened up my own Etsy shop. I make pillows, scarves, beanies, you name it. Another real fun thing I've done is start a local group on Facebook for people in Chicago to make friends and organize events, and it's really picked up since then!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share experiences of living in Chicago, can tag along on great adventures around the city and also great conversation. I can provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and I'm also a very respectful guest and always make sure I clean up after myself and keep spaces neat.
