About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for an exciting PhD position...

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, openminded person. I enjoy to get to know new people and hopefully learn some new stuff from them. I like to joke around, but i can also be serious if need be.

PHILOSOPHY

Even if life seems bad at the moment, it is still pretty cool to be alife! Just take a minute and think of all the cool stuff you can do or see!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did some surfing on my most recent vacation in New Zealand - had some pretty nice first couchsurfing experience.

Interests

I guess I am kind of a sports maniac. I especially like to do outdoor sports. My favourites are biking, hiking and running. I have been focusing on them the last few years, but recently I am trying to do more new stuff, I tried swimming, bouldering,... I will see what comes next. Although I am from Austria, I am not really into skiing ;-).

I worry about environmental issues and I try to live as "environmentally friendly" as possible, even if that sounds corny :-). This also influenced my university education. Right now I am working at a university in the field of atmospheric physics.

Another rather big step for me was becoming a vegetarian a few month back. And so far it works pretty well for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just an example of a movie that impressed me recently - Into Eternity - a pretty nice documentary about a nuclear waste repository, that is built to last 100,000 years, which is as crazy as it sounds :-).
I mostly enjoy comedy movies, some action movies; and a serious movie once in a while.

I listen to all kinds of music.

I like to read about nature - i have a subscription of National Geographic; science; biographies; social/environmental issues;...
I also like fantasy or science fiction books; I like Terry Pratchets Discworld

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On my last vacation I cycled around the North Island of New Zealand. I started in Auckland and made my way down to Wellington in about 4 weeks, then I took the train back up. Pretty cool experience!
