CURRENT MISSION

I am living in Salvador, Bahia for one year, researching a tropical disease called Leishmaniasis, which is endemic to the interior of Bahia.

ABOUT ME

I am a medical student, taking one year away from my formal studies to research a disease called "Leishmaniasis" in Bahia, Brazil. I love medicine, but the career path is long and a bit of a drag, so I am so glad to be able to spend one year here in Brazil. When not studying, I always try to travel and meet new people, because I think that building strong relationships with others is probably the point of life. I always try to learn other languages, to the extent of my abilities.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy comes from my assorted personal influence, including the following:

Colombia: "La Bacaneria es poetizar la vida."
Haiti: "Kembe la pa lage."
Cuba: "Hasta la victoria siempre."

CSNY: "If you cant be with the one you love, love the one you're with."
My Dad: "Dont let the bastards get you down."
Many philosophers, including, but not limited to, Jesus Christ: "We should all try to treat each other like brothers and sisters whenever possible"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One night in Bahia, I was dead broke and didn't know how I would get home. This Brazilian guy told me that he would pay for a taxi for me if I promised to join couch surfing. I am fulfilling that promise.

My favorite thing to do, anywhere in the world, is to barbeque food, drink beer and listen to music in the company of friends. So far, Brazil has been the perfect country in which to partake in this pastime!
