CURRENT MISSION

Living Life Fiercely!

"How vain it is to sit down and write when you have not stood up to live." ~Henry David Thoreau. This quote describes my state of mind right now! So excuse me if I decline to read your history book and make history myself!

At first, I was quiet and reserved, but lately I've been living! I left the country for the first time in 2010 and I've been unstoppable ever since! I want to see it all, hear it all, and do it all so, just like everybody else, I can have something interesting to put in this box, haha.

I'm an experiential learner, so I learn best when I'm getting lost, asking questions, and getting my feet wet and my hands dirty!

On a scale of 1-10, sense of location is a 6.8 so I'm DEFINITELY going to get lost! Eventually, I had to start telling myself that I'm "on a discovery" because it makes it easier to deal with getting lost, lol.

I normally stay up late, 2am or so! I'm usually in the mood to catch a movie, have late-night chats & walks in the summer are the best!

I don't smoke, but if you're hosting me, then it's not a problem and I'm not complaining. If I'm hosting you, then you can smoke outside.

Arriba, abajo, al centro, adentro! This is a Spanish saying people say before taking a shot. I'm no stranger to a good time! ;D

Keep the dream alive...hit the snooze button! My ideal time to wake up is 10am, haha.

"Refuse sadness...go where happy people are!" I hate negativity!

"Tell me whey I can't reach up & simply touch the sky..." I want to live by this, but moreover, I want to inspire people to live by this! You can do it! :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to host as well as be hosted! I want to go our for coffee (even though I don't really like coffee), go for long winter walks (even though I don't like the cold), and see the sunrise (even though I hate waking up early) all without complaining! :)

1. foreign cuisines I can cook U.S. Southern Food if that's your thing! :)
2. Dancing! Couple dancing/Latin Dancing...I've already taken up a bit of salsa and want to keep it up!
3. Massage therapy. I love a massage! I like to make people feel good, hehehe :
4.Play the guitar. In my traveling experience, the most experienced of men know how to play the guitar, but I know this'll take some time, haha.

Movies: X-men, Transformers, anything Julia Roberts, romantic comedies, dramas, suspense, LOVE SCARY MOVIES AND COVER MY EYES WITH MY FINGERS SPREAD APART, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Dumb & Dumber, Major Payne, All of the "Fridays", some Tyler Perry is ok, A League of Their Own, Home Alone, The Wiz(ard of Oz), Padre Amaro, Sin Nombre, Y tu Mamá También. I like lots of movies...but my memory isn't that great so I forget them quickly!

Music: John Legend, Fred Hammond, India Arie, Jazmine Sullivan, Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Kirk Franklin, Adele, Soul Music is music to my soul, Jazz if im in that kinda mood, Maroon 5, Usher, Kanye West, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, etc

Books: I'm a textbook nerd! I read textbooks from cover to cover, especially history books, linguistics books, grammar books, sociology books, books on culture/race! All of that is interesting to me. I've never been really huge on reading novels.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: This is my calling! I think I'm a very helpful person and teaching comes natural to me. I can teach Spanish (I would say that my level is somewhere in between intermediate and expert...but im really good at it either way!).

Learn: soo many things I want to learn. Massage techniques, dancing (tango, salsa, and everything in between, foreign cuisine...Yo aime food!!!!

Share: I think I have a lot to share...I can share my experiences growing up in the South of the United States as an African American. Its super different than your typical New York City/Los Angeles experience! Also, I lived in Uruguay (small country in South America) and visited Brazil and Argentina and can share all about that too!
