CURRENT MISSION

I am a foreign language teacher in the Detroit area. I live in Dearborn Heights, about 15 minutes from downtown Detroit with my wife, Jessy. During the summer I'm traveling half the time, so I might not be available. During the school year I stay closer to home.

ABOUT ME

My name is Sven. I grew up in a small town near Detroit. I studied foreign languages in college. I currently live in Detroit and teach German and Spanish . I lived in Germany for a year where I was introduced to Couchsurfing. I also spent a year teaching in South Korea. I plan on spending my summers off traveling in the next few years.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted many surfers when I lived in Munich, Germany. Most of my references from Germany are about going out on the town. I'm a little calmer these days. I haven't hosted in a few years, but I recently moved back to Detroit and figured I'd open the couch up again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a bunch of times, in Germany and Detroit. I've only surfed once and it was a very pleasant experience.

兴趣

I'm a traveler and learner of foreign languages. I like going camping and being outdoors, I've lived in cities for most of my twenties and then got involved in more outdoorsy activities. Canoe camping and backpacking (hiking) are my favorite activities. I enjoy conversations on science, politics, history, philosophy...

I read books about history, science, astronomy, ecology, economics, etc. I don´t watch too many movies, but will watch nature documentaries for hours. I read National Geographic, Der Spiegel, Backpacking, the news, Reddit. I spend a lot of time reading and could go on, but I won't.

I snorkeled all day at a coral reef in the Bay Islands of Honduras. I got the worst sunburn I´ve ever had, but it was worth it.

I teach Spanish and can teach German. I can give advice about traveling, and with how to learn languages. I cannot cook, but can definitely clean up afterwards.
